American Ninja Warrior Renewed for Seasons 19 & 20: Mt. Midoriyama Is Coming Back

American Ninja Warrior isn't going anywhere.
NBC officially announced on September 1, 2026 that its long-running obstacle competition has been renewed for Season 19 and Season 20.
And this isn't simply a two-season renewal.
There are already major plans for both seasons, including the return of one of the most recognizable challenges in American Ninja Warrior history.
Mt. Midoriyama is coming back.
For Ninja Warrior fans throughout Dallas-Fort Worth, that's two more seasons of watching some of the country's best obstacle athletes climb, swing, jump and race through increasingly difficult courses.

Is American Ninja Warrior Renewed for Season 19?
Yes.
NBC has officially renewed American Ninja Warrior for Season 19.
The network announced the renewal on September 1, the same day Season 18 crowned its newest champion.
NBC says filming for the upcoming seasons is scheduled to begin later in 2026, with all rounds taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
But the biggest Season 19 announcement may be what competitors will encounter when they get there.
Mt. Midoriyama Is Returning to American Ninja Warrior
This is huge for longtime fans.
NBC confirms that Season 19 will bring back the iconic four-stage Mt. Midoriyama course.
The enormous multi-stage obstacle course is modeled after the famous Japanese competition SASUKE and has been one of the defining challenges in American Ninja Warrior history.
According to NBC, Mt. Midoriyama debuted on American Ninja Warrior in Season 4 and was most recently seen in Season 16.
Now it's coming back.
That means competitors will once again have an opportunity to face the kind of multi-stage National Finals challenge longtime ANW viewers immediately associate with the show.
For fans who missed the traditional format, Season 19 could be a particularly exciting year.
American Ninja Warrior Season 20 Is Already Confirmed Too
NBC didn't stop with Season 19.
American Ninja Warrior Season 20 has also officially been ordered.
And the twentieth season is shaping up to be very different.
NBC says Season 20 will feature a special "Summer of Champions" connected to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
The network says the season will include former Olympians and elite Ninja champions representing more than 15 countries around the world.
That potentially gives American Ninja Warrior a much more international feel for its milestone twentieth season.
What Does American Ninja Warrior Have to Do With the 2028 Olympics?
This is where things get particularly interesting for obstacle fans.
NBC's announcement says Season 20 will celebrate the sport's inclusion in the 2028 Olympic Games through its special Summer of Champions format.
That means the summer of 2028 won't simply mark the twentieth season of American Ninja Warrior.
It will connect the television competition with a much bigger moment for obstacle-style athletics.
And NBC is already planning to bring competitors from around the world into the celebration.
Who Won American Ninja Warrior Season 18?
The renewal announcement arrived alongside another major moment:
Josiah Pippel is the American Ninja Warrior Season 18 champion.
Pippel, from Moorestown, New Jersey, defeated defending Season 17 champion Kai Beckstrand in the final race to claim the championship and $250,000 prize.
According to NBC, Pippel had previously reached the National Finals six consecutive times.
He first began competing on American Ninja Warrior at only 15 years old.
Now, at 20, he's an American Ninja Warrior champion.
Taylor Greene Makes American Ninja Warrior History
Season 18 also produced history on the women's side.
Taylor Greene successfully defended her Women's Championship, becoming the first competitor to win the women's title in consecutive seasons.
The 18-year-old captured the championship through Season 18's four-woman bonus tournament.
So Season 18 ends with two major accomplishments:
Josiah Pippel is the overall Season 18 champion.
Taylor Greene is the first back-to-back women's champion.
And now attention turns toward Season 19.
When Will American Ninja Warrior Season 19 Premiere?
NBC has not announced an official Season 19 premiere date yet in today's renewal announcement.
What NBC has confirmed is that filming for the upcoming seasons is expected to begin later in 2026 in Las Vegas.
Because the announcement is brand new, fans should be cautious about websites claiming to know an exact Season 19 premiere date unless NBC officially announces one.
