Carroll ISD Fall Sports 2026: A Guide for Southlake Student-Athletes & Families
Carroll ISD Fall Sports 2026: Dragon Nation Is Back
Fall sports are returning to Southlake, Texas, and another season of Carroll ISD athletics is getting underway.
For families searching for Carroll ISD sports for fall 2026, the new school year means the return of some of the programs most closely associated with Dragon Nation, including football, volleyball and cross country, along with other fall athletic competition.
And Carroll enters the new year following an exceptionally successful 2025-26 season.
Carroll Athletics Enters Fall 2026 After a Historic Year
Carroll ISD captured its 10th UIL Lone Star Cup championship following the 2025-26 school year, the most in Class 6A history. The district also established a Class 6A record with 132 Lone Star Cup points.
Carroll Athletics was also named the inaugural Class 6A recipient of the THSADA Texas Cup, recognizing the top overall athletic program based on performance across UIL-sanctioned sports.
That's quite a standard for the next group of Dragons to follow.
Carroll Dragon Football
Few fall traditions in Southlake attract attention quite like Carroll Dragon football.
Football returns for another season in 2026 as Carroll athletes compete under the lights and Dragon Nation follows the team throughout the fall.
The program enters this season following significant recent success. Carroll ISD highlighted an undefeated season and state championship appearance among the accomplishments of its 2024-25 school year.
For Southlake families, students and football fans, expect Friday nights to once again be a major part of the fall calendar.
Lady Dragon Volleyball
Southlake Carroll volleyball is another program worth watching closely.
The Lady Dragons aren't simply returning from a good season. Carroll ISD's official championship records list Lady Dragon Volleyball as a 2025-26 Class 6A State Champion.
That makes the 2026 season especially interesting as the program begins another campaign following a state-title year.
Carroll Cross Country
Cross country has become one of Carroll's most accomplished athletic programs.
The Carroll boys cross-country team won the 2025-26 Class 6A State Championship, continuing a remarkable run of state titles. Carroll's championship history lists boys cross-country state championships in 2019-20, 2020-21, 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26.
That makes Southlake Carroll cross country another fall sport for local fans to keep an eye on in 2026.
Preparing for Fall Sports in Southlake
For student-athletes, fall competition also means months of practices, workouts, games, meets and tournaments.
But sport-specific practice isn't the only way teenagers can continue developing physically.
A football player may need more strength and acceleration.
A volleyball player may want to become more explosive.
A runner may benefit from developing overall strength and body control.
Other athletes may want to improve qualities such as:
Agility • Balance • Coordination • Strength • Power • Grip • Core control • Body awareness
Carroll ISD itself placed a major emphasis on athletic development this summer. Its 2026 summer offerings included football, volleyball, running, wrestling, basketball, baseball, soccer and other athletic camps, along with a Performance Course program designed around athletic development.
